What’s Going On, Jan. 27, 2012

On Sunday, Jan. 29, we will welcome Dr. Ronald Carrier to share the message. Along with his siblings including Eleanor Cowan and Herman Carrier, Dr. Carrier was raised in our congregation. He and his wife Edith have three children and six grandchildren. Among his many accomplishments, Dr. Carrier served as President and Chancellor of James Madison University for 31 years. We are glad to welcome him home.

Scouting Recognition Sunday is February 5, 2012. Our Boy Scouts will be hosting a meal following the 11:00 AM service in the Fellowship Hall. Please plan to attend and support our Scouting programs with a donation.

Wed., Jan 11 Fellowship Meal is a Youth Fundraiser

Come join us on Wed., January 11 at 5:30 pm in the Fellowship Hall for fellowship and dinner of soup, beans, soup beans, cornbread, and dessert.  We hope you will also come out to support the youth, as this is a fundraiser for their spiritual retreat in Gatlinburg at Resurrection.  You can also support them by donating food or drink.  Thanks!

What’s Going On

Leadership Training, Sunday, Jan. 8, 3 pm to 5 pm in the Fellowship Hall.  All ministry team leaders and committee chairs are asked to be present for this once-a-year training.  We will cover some basics of leadership, leading a meeting, setting goals, working with the budget, communications, and our church organization.

Staff Position Opening — Custodian.  We are seeking a part time Custodian. 13 hours per week, some schedule flexibility, determined in cooperation with Pastor. $7.92/hour, no benefits. Apply by sending your cover letter and resume to Bluff City UMC, Attn: SPRC, PO Box 190, Bluff City, TN 37618. The cover letter should include contact information for 3 references, who are not family members. Indicate how the references know you and provide a phone number for us to contact them.
