Today in worship we celebrate Reformation Sunday to remind us that on October 31, 1517, Martin Luther issued his Ninety-five Theses in Wittenberg, Germany and began the Protestant Reformation.

Contemporary Worship Planning Team meets TODAY at 5:00 pm at the Wesley Center.

On November 3 in worship, we will celebrate All Saints Day, in which we especially remember those people special to us who have died since All Saints Day last year (November 1).  We will call out their names in a time of remembrance in both worship services.  If you would like us to name a person special to you who has died since the previous All Saints Day, please contact the church office with the spelling of the person’s name by Wednesday, October 30.

Called Church Council meeting, Tuesday, Oct. 29, 6:30 pm, Fellowship Hall.  This special meeting will only consider the establishment of a church Endowment Program that would include several endowment funds.  One endowment fund is the Mary Eleanor Carrier Cowan Memorial Endowment Fund for maintenance, repair and improvements to our buildings and grounds.  If approved at this Church Council meeting, the Endowment Program will be officially established at Charge Conference on November 14.

Fellowship Dinner on Wed., October 30 at 6:00 pm in the Fellowship Hall.   This week’s meal will be hosted by the Circle of Faith.  The menu will be potato bar, salad and dessert.  Come enjoy the meal and the fellowship of your brothers and sisters in Christ!  Adult Bible Study will follow at 6:45 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall.  Children and Youth Programs will also be a 6:45 p.m. in their respective rooms.

It is common for us to fall behind in our giving during the summer months, with vacations and other activities decreasing regular attendance.  Our ministries often increase in the summer, though, especially with children such as Vacation Bible School and with youth such as their participation in the week-long of discipleship at Assembly.  We encourage you to consider whether you need to “catch up” in your tithes and contributions to the General Fund, or perhaps you can give more, so that our ministries may continue strong and growing.

DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME ends Sunday, November 3.  Don’t forget to set your clocks back one (1) hour Saturday night.

Be A Matthew.  Like the apostle Matthew welcomed non-believers into his home to meet Jesus, please consider welcoming non-believers into your home for a time of faith sharing one evening during the week of November 3.  Excellent resources are being provided free of charge by the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.  Our church is signed up for this nation-wide event and we need you to host a gathering in your home.  Begin praying now about who you can invite — 10 non-believers who are your friends.  For more info, talk to Pastor Dan or visit

Charge Conference, Thursday, Nov. 14, 6:00 pm, Fellowship Hall.

CLUSTER CHOIR PRACTICE today at 3:00 PM in Sanctuary.

To the Congregation of the Bluff City United Methodist Church:

Please accept our heartfelt thanks for your condolences on the passing of our beloved husband and father, Tivis (Tim) Sutherland.  Your calls, visits, prayers, and thoughtfulness were appreciated during our time of loss. A special thank you goes out to Jin Lane and Joan Williams, along with Billie Stewart, Dolores Williams and several other church member who provided a dinner the night of the funeral.  Pastor Dan attended and added his comfort and blessings to the occasion.   To all who participated, we sincerely thank you for your concern and efforts.
