News and Announcements for the Week of December 1

Christmas Fellowship Dinner will be today, December 1 at 12:00 Noon in the Fellowship Hall.  Everyone is welcome to attend.

Pastor Dan is out of town with his family until Tuesday.  In case of emergency, please contact our Lay Leader Tony Franklin at 423-335-0919.

We will share Communion next Sunday, Dec. 8.  Please bring your special offering we use to support the Robinson AME Zion Church.

The Worship Committee ordered 40 poinsettias to decorate the Sanctuary and Wesley Center alters for Christmas.  You may now sign up and purchase a plant to honor or in memory of a loved one.   Please see Betty to purchase and sign up.  These flowers are available at $6.00 each on a first come/first serve basis.

The Bluff City Music Club invites you to their Christmas program on  Sunday, December 8 at 2:00 pm in the sanctuary.  Refreshments will follow in the fellowship hall.

If you did not have an opportunity to present your Commitment Card in worship last week for our Commitment Sunday, please turn it in to the church office.  All congregation members are asked to pray about their financial commitment to giving in 2014, and complete the Commitment Card.  We pray that you will recognize the spiritual dimensions and necessity of giving, and do this as an act of worship, an offering to God.  We encourage you to consider the Biblical expectation of the tithe, giving 10% of your income to Christ’s Church.  Your tithe should be given to the general fund of the church to support our collective ministries.  Giving to a designated cause is “second-mile” giving, over and above the tithe.  If you think that you are not able to give the tithe, then we encourage you to give proportionally to your income and still make a commitment to giving.  Regardless of what you give, we hope you will do it in a spirit of generosity that Jesus invites us to.  What we do with our money is a sign of our trust in God.
