News and Announcements for the Week of December 15

THE CHILDREN’S CHRISTMAS PROGRAM will be held tonight, Sunday, December 15 at 7:00 PM in the Wesley Center.  Refreshments will follow.

The Worship Committee ordered 35 poinsettias to decorate the Sanctuary and Wesley Center alters for Christmas.  You may now sign up and purchase a plant to honor or in memory of a loved one.   There are 16 available for purchasing.   Please see Betty to purchase and sign up.  These flowers are available at $6.00 each on a first come/first serve basis.

Hope you will join us for our candle-lit Christmas Eve Worship at 7 pm on Dec. 24 in our Sanctuary. What a wonder-filled night as we celebrate that God’s love has come to dwell among us in Jesus of Nazareth! Come and welcome your HOPE!  All are welcome at our come-as-you-are, family-friendly service.  Casual clothing is fine.  Invite your family and friends to come.  We will have a blended style of worship, combining contemporary and traditional elements; sharing Communion which is open to all who know or seek a relationship with Jesus; and candle-lighting while singing Silent Night, Holy Night.   It is a beautiful service!

Recognizing the incredible gift that God has given to us in Jesus, and that it is Jesus’ birthday we celebrate, we invite you to share a Christmas gift to Jesus at our Christmas Eve Service by contributing to the Imagine No Malaria campaign.  So far, through this effort, we have helped save 185 lives in Africa.  $10 saves a life by helping provide bed-nets to protect against malaria, educate the people, communicate behavior change, and provide medical treatment.  Our goal is to save 217 lives — one life for each member of our church.   If we raise more than is needed to reach our goal, we will use any additional monies to serve people in crisis in our community through our Benevolence Fund.

Thank you so much for your generosity in supporting Samantha and me going to the Holy Land!!  With your contributions and those of family and friends, and the Holston Conference scholarship, we have covered the costs of the trip.  Please pray that God will use the experience to grow us deeper in faith, commit us more as followers of Jesus, and become better in our teaching and preaching.  Love, Dan and Samantha
