News and Announcements for the Week of January 26

We are grateful to Tony Franklin for preaching today.  Pastor Dan is with the youth and other adult chaperones — 30 people total! — at Resurrection, the youth spiritual retreat in Gatlinburg.  Resurrection is an amazing ministry of our Holston Conference that reaches about 12,000 youth and adult chaperones each January, and is supported by our apportionment giving to the conference.  Please pray that God will bless their time together.  Thanks to all people who have given special contributions to support our youth on this trip.  If you would like to make a contribution, you can make a check payable to “Bluff City UMC” and write “Youth Ministries” in the memo line.  With so many youth attending from our church, your assistance is needed and greatly appreciated!

We hope you have noticed the new signs around our buildings, which are part of our Hospitality – Inward, Outward & Upward campaign to become a more welcoming congregation.  As part of this effort, our Church Council decided to rename the Education Building to Christian Life Center.  We think this new name sounds more inviting and better represents a more holistic approach to spiritual growth, i.e., that growth toward spiritual maturity is broader than education.  Thanks to our Sign Team, Hospitality Team, and Trustees, and especially Jack Hurlbert for their work on this project!  And thanks to all who have contributed financially to our campaign.  Our next phase of the Hospitality campaign is to place new flooring in the Wesley Center and part of the Christian Life Center near the office.  Please consider your contributions to helping us improve our facilities to become a more welcoming congregation.  You can make a check payable to the church and mark “Hospitality Campaign” in the memo line.
