Pastor Dan is at Lake Junaluska, NC, for the Holston Annual Conference. He will return on Thursday, June 12. In case of emergency, please contact our Lay Leader Mike Miller at 423-538-8886.
During our 11:00 am worship, we are doing Prayers of the People differently. Everyone is invited to write prayer celebrations or concerns on the back of the blue Connection Card and place it in the offering plate during the Offering. Our worship leader will retrieve the cards during our worship service and share the concerns aloud. Please indicate clearly on the card if you do not wish for a particular concern to be shared aloud.
Nancy Forrester, our Lay Member to Annual Conference, will serve as our lay member along with Pastor Dan at the Holston Annual Conference session, June 8-11 at Lake Junaluska, NC, representing our church among the 900 other United Methodist churches in east Tennessee, southwest Virginia, and northern Georgia. Each year, all clergy members and an equal number of lay members selected from the local churches attend their conference’s Annual Conference session to worship, fellowship, and conduct the business of the conference. During these sessions, members of the conference hear reports of past and ongoing work; adopt future goals, programs and budgets; ordain clergy members as deacons and elders; and elect delegates to Jurisdictional and General Conferences (every 4 years). Our Bishop Mary Virginia Taylor presides over these meetings. The session is an important expression of our “connectional” church, recognizing that our local church and our denomination is part of the universal Body of Christ. Please be in prayer for Nancy, Bishop Taylor, Pastor Dan, and the other delegates, asking that God’s Spirit will guide them in their decision-making.
Thanks to all who have contributed to the Hands On Mission food buckets for Zimbabwe! Together we contributed 8 food buckets toward our Johnson City District goal of 300. The food buckets are put on a semi-truck and taken to Annual Conference along with the contributions of the other 11 Holston district churches. We then pray over them before they are shipped to Africa. Please hold in your prayers those who will receive this much needed aid and our missionaries working with them.
Thank you for your contributions of $125.00 to the Annual Conference offering for educational ministries in South Sudan; and for your contributions of $315.71 to the Change for Children offerings to benefit children’s ministries in our Holston region and in Africa. Nancy Forrester, our Lay Member to Annual Conference, will present these offerings on your behalf at Annual Conference. Way to go Holston! Way to give!
There will be dinner for children and youth each Wednesday night at 6:00 pm in the Fellowship Hall.
There will be a Vacation Bible School meeting today, June 8, at 12:30 pm after the 11:00 service. All who will help, please plan to attend as it is quickly coming upon us. Thanks for all who will help.

Dear Bluff City UMC Family,
I would like to thank each of you for the going away gift that you gave me on my last Sunday. I will surely miss all of you, especially Dan and the Choir. On my last Sunday at BCUMC, I was emotionally not able to tell all of you how much I love you and how sad it is for me to leave you. Instead of me going back to my “home church,” I feel as though I left my “home church.” My thoughtsx and prayers will be with BCUMC forever. Thanks for being my church family for the last six years.
In joyful song,
