Today we celebrate Native American Ministries Sunday , which is one of the six churchwide Special Sundays of The United Methodist Church. Native American Ministries Sunday nurtures mission with Native Americans and provides scholarships for United Methodist Native American seminarians. During our Offering time, we will collect a special offering for Native American Ministries. The annual conference administers 50 percent of the receipts to develop and strengthen Native American ministries within the conference. The conference committee on Native American ministry administers these funds. The other 50 percent of the net receipts provides scholarships for Native Americans attending United Methodist schools of theology and other schools approved by the University Senate of The United Methodist Church. You can make a check payable to Bluff City UMC with “Native American Ministries” on the memo line.
Today, we also celebrate the Festival of God’s Creation (the Sunday closest to Earth Day), which recognizes God’s gracious work in creating the earth and all living things. In the ways that we live, let us honor that God has entrusted to us the care and stewardship of God’s Garden.

The Staff-Parish Relations Committee (SPRC) is pleased to announce Rachel Bombailey is our custodian, effective April 1, 2015. Rachel is the granddaughter of Harold Smith, who has served as our custodian for 3 years. The change was made at Harold’s request and approved by the SPRC. We expect Rachel will continue in this role for about one year, and then Harold will return to the position.
