Today is our third Sunday in Advent. Advent is a season of four weeks including four Sundays that prepare us for Christmas. Advent derives from the Latin adventus , which means “coming.” The season proclaims the comings of the Christ — whose birth we prepare to celebrate once again, who comes continually in Word and Spirit, and whose return in final victory we anticipate. The Advent wreath is a simple circle of evergreen branches, a sign of life without end; its four Advent candles encircle a central white Christ candle.
Finance Team meeting has been moved from Tuesday, Dec. 15 to Thursday, Dec. 17 , at 6:30 pm in the Fellowship Hall. Team members are: Tony Lundin (Chair), Betty Malone, Nancy Forrester, Jack Hurlbert, Dan Gray, Michael Forrester, Elaine Good, Herman Carrier, and Lelia Perry.
Thanks to all who have made Generosity Commitment pledges to support the mission of Jesus Christ through our congregation in the coming year. If you have not had the opportunity to consecrate our personal financial giving commitments for the coming year, you can place your yellow Financial Giving Commitment Card in the offering plate during worship, or deliver it to the church office.
Please bring the Hopeful Hearts Christmas gifts to the church office and check the sign off sheet that is located there. That way, we will know that the gifts for the Hopeful Hearts child you sponsored are ready to pickup.
THERE WILL BE NO CHOIR PRACTICE ON WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 23!
At our last Annual Conference, our delegates pledged that we would encourage each church member to give 10 hours of service this year to children in poverty in our community. We hope that you are working toward that goal, and will encourage that in your Sunday School, Life Group, UMM, UMW, Circle of Faith, youth ministries, children’s ministries, etc.
