News and Events for January 8

We welcome Trish Patterson as our speaker today.  Trish is the Community Outreach Director for Holston Habitat for Humanity. Habitat for Humanity help homeowners with low-incomes restore and maintain the exteriors of their homes by providing opportunities for affordable home repairs. Repairs completed by Holston Habitat impact the health and safety of residents and/or the preservation of the home. All home repairs are led by trained crew leaders and completed by volunteers.  For more information about Holston Habitat for Humanity, please go to their website, http://holstonhabitat.org/Home/home-repair-program/.

On Communion Sundays, usually the first Sunday of each month, we collect a special offering to share with our brothers and sisters at the Robinson Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church . Claiming our oneness in Christ Jesus and to help bridge the racial divide in our culture and because of our shared Wesleyan heritage, we support that congregation with a gift of $100 per month. During Communion, you can bring your offering forward. You can make a check payable to Bluff City UMC and write “AME Zion” in the memo line.

Next Sunday, we will be collecting monetary funds and canned goods for the Rockhold Food Pantry.  All donations are appreciated.

Several years ago, donations were made to a designated fund for the children’s bell choir program (current balance of $194.62) and to a designated fund for the children’s rotation Sunday School ministry (current balance of $102.53). We have not done these particular ministries since at least 2008 and perhaps before; and do not anticipate doing them again. We would like to move these funds to the Designated Children’s Ministries fund to be available to more generally support our ministries with children. If you donated any amount to either the children’s bell choir program or the rotation Sunday School, please contact Pastor Dan to  discuss this matter .
