Today in worship, we join in Freedom Sunday with the International Justice Mission (IJM) and thousands of churches around the world to unite and proclaim that slavery still exists and that we as believers must lead the charge to end it. We will consider the reality of modern-day slavery, God’s heart for justice, and an invitation to our congregation to get involved to end this injustice. If you would like to give a special offering, make your check payable to Bluff City UMC and put End Slavery in the memo line. We will pass along 100% of what you give to IJM. IJM is a global, non-denominational Christian ministry that protects the poor from violence in the developing world, including working to end slavery. For more information about IJM, visit http://www.ijm.org.

Holston Habitat for Humanity needs volunteers for several projects. There are several build projects taking place across the Tri-cities and especially need help on Thursdays and Fridays. They are also needing volunteers at the ReStores located at 750 East Main Street in Kingsport and 3201 Kimberly Court in Johnson City. If you are interested, please contact Holston Habitat for Humanity at HolstonHabitat.org or call Mandy Penz at the Habitat office (423) 239-7689, ext. 800.
Volunteers are needed to drive the van on Wednesday nights. The more who volunteer, the less you would need to be available to drive/ ride passenger. We need two adults every Wednesday night. Also, Matthew Martin is in need of a ride from Volunteer Parkway. If you or someone you know lives in the area and can pick him up, that would be incredibly helpful. Please let Taylor Lee know at (423)956-2919.
