Halloween is fast approaching.  Trunk or Treat will be on TuesdayOctober 31 at 6:00 PM in the parking lot.  Donations of candy and/or monetary donations are needed.  There will a box in the Information Center in which to put your donations of candy.  If writing a check, please put “Halloween” on the memo line and put with the regular offering.

For more than 120 years, Methodists and Holston Home have worked together to minister to the needs of children, youth and families in the Holston Conference an beyond.  Your FIFTH SUNDAY OFFERINGS make a difference.  You will have an opportunity to give next Sunday.  Please be generous.

The Puerto Rico (PR) School System has been closed for the remainder of the school year.  The school children of PR will be sent to several places in the continental US to continue their school year.  Central Florida is one of the places where the children will be sent.  The Florida Conference has accepted the offer from Holston Conference through Holston Conference Disaster Response Ministries to provide UMCOR School Kits to the displaced PR children.  See the enclosed flyer for the contents of each school kit.  In addition to the existing disaster response need of  Cleaning buckets and Hygiene kits, now the people/churches of Holston Conference are being asked to provide School Kits in support of the large number of Disaster Survivors.  Please have the school kits and any additional cleaning buckets and hygiene kits (including additional fees/transportation costs) in the church office by Sunday, October 29.

We are His Hands and Feet!

Canned goods and monetary donations are being collected today for the Rockhold Food Pantry.  Food will be distributed this Saturday, October 21.

Our brokenness is a bridge, not a barrier. “The Heart of Man” is a cinematic retelling of the parable of the prodigal son, juxtaposed with interviews of real people struggling with distractions from their faith and the shame that follows addiction. Combining a blend of narrative and documentary elements, it features subjects of brokenness, identity and grace. This unique event brings people together for a night to understand they are not alone and can find freedom.

Freedom from performance. Freedom from managing our behavior, so we appear acceptable. Freedom from our addictions, compulsive behaviors, secrecy and double lives. Audiences will encounter powerful true stories with author William Paul Young (“The Shack”), author Dr. Dan Allender (“The Wounded Heart”) and spoken word artist Jackie Hill Perry, among others.

This movie will be shown Tuesday, October 17 at  Tinsletown.  For more information, see the website
