We welcome Rev. Fred Balding, to our pulpit today. Rev. Balding is Director of Development for Good Samaritan Ministries in Johnson City. Good Samaritan Ministries is supported by our congregation through our District Fair Share givings, and has offices in Johnson City and Piney Flats. Rev. Balding will offer a presentation about Good Samaritan Ministries during Sunday School in the Fellowship Hall. All adult Sunday Schools are encouraged to attend his presentation. We will receive a special offering to support Good Samaritan Ministries.
The Circle of Faith will be having a potato bar as a fundraiser on Sunday, October 29 in the Fellowship Hall after the 10:55 church service. Please come out and support this ministry.
Halloween is fast approaching. Trunk or Treat will be on Tuesday, October 31 at 6:00 PM in the parking lot. Donations of candy and/or monetary donations are needed. There will a box in the Information Center in which to put your donations of candy. If writing a check, please put “Halloween” on the memo line and put with the regular offering.
For more than 120 years, Methodists and Holston Home have worked together to minister to the needs of children, youth and families in the Holston Conference an beyond. Your FIFTH SUNDAY OFFERINGS make a difference. You will have an opportunity to give next Sunday. Please be generous.
The Puerto Rico (PR) School System has been closed for the remainder of the school year. The school children of PR will be sent to several places in the continental US to continue their school year. Central Florida is one of the places where the children will be sent. The Florida Conference has accepted the offer from Holston Conference through Holston Conference Disaster Response Ministries to provide UMCOR School Kits to the displaced PR children. See the enclosed flyer for the contents of each school kit. In addition to the existing disaster response need of Cleaning buckets and Hygiene kits, now the people/churches of Holston Conference are being asked to provide School Kits in support of the large number of Disaster Survivors. Please have the school kits and any additional cleaning buckets and hygiene kits (including additional fees/transportation costs) in the church office by Sunday, October 29. We are His Hands and Feet!
A new Acappella group will be starting for young people. This group will start next Wednesday at 8:00 PM. The practices will be short and sweet! See Kim Lunden if interested.
YOUTH NEWS: We need three (3) volunteers to drive the van on Wednesday nights so a rotation can be created and the same ones would not have to drive every week. If you would like to volunteer for this ministry, please let Taylor Lee know at (423)956-2919.
The youth will be celebrating a naked cake party on Wednesday, October 25th at 6:25 p.m. in the youth room. Anyone who would like to celebrate with us is welcome to join!
