News and Events for October 29

Children’s Sabbath is an annual celebration that aims to unite religious congregations of all faiths across the nation in shared concern for children and common commitment to improving their lives and working for justice on their behalf.  As United Methodists, our roots rest in the care for those who are vulnerable, especially children.  During this important celebration, we join with other denominations and religions to bring to light the plight of children in a “bigger and more powerful and more inspiring way than the efforts of any one congregation” or denomination can accomplish on its own.  We are grateful to the many wonderful leaders in our ministries with children in our congregation!

The Circle of Faith will be having a potato bar as a fundraiser TODAY in the Fellowship Hall after the 10:30 church service.  Proceeds will go to sending youth to Resurrection and Assembly, as well as Christmas gifts for family in need.  Please come out and support this ministry.

Halloween is fast approaching.  Trunk or Treat will be on TuesdayOctober 31 at 6:00 PM in the parking lot.  Donations of candy and/or monetary donations are needed.  There will a box in the Information Center in which to put your donations of candy.  If writing a check, please put “Halloween” on the memo line and put with the regular offering.

TODAY IS THE FIFTH SUNDAY!  The mission of Holston United Methodist Home for Children in Greeneville is to provide hope and healing to children and families struggling with life’s challenges.  You can help give children and youth a better life, a good education, and a chance to develop into Christian men and women.  Your interest determines their future.  Please be generous in your giving.
