News and Events for April 22

Today, we celebrate the Festival of God’s Creation (the Sunday closest to Earth Day), which recognizes God’s gracious work in  the earth and all living things. In the ways that we live, let us honor that God has entrusted to us the care and stewardship of God’s Garden. Recycling is an act of worship.

At its April 15 meeting, the Church Council unanimously approved combining both of our existing Sunday worship services into a single worship to begin at 10:30 am . Sunday School will begin at 9:30 am, with a gathering time at 9:15 am . The new worship service begins Sunday, May 6 . Invite people to come!

Leadership & Vision Team meets at 6:30 pm on Tuesday, April 24 in the Fellowship Hall. Team members are: Dan Gray, Tony Lundin, Lelia Perry, Nancy Forrester, Lana Butler, Jane Bellamy, Bobbie Warden, Mike Miller, Jim Altman, Dan Perry, Michael Forrester. We will continue our work through Journey to Healthy Systems and our work on crafting a new vision statement.

Staff Parish Relations Team (SPRC) will meet with District Superintendent Lauri Jo Cranford on Sunday, May 6 following worship, around 12:30 PM.  SPRC members are Michael Forrester (chair),  Elaine Good, Kathy Hurlbert, Paula Durham, Bobbie Warden, Linda Rader, Carole Miller, Lane Butler, Valarie Altman, Tony Lundin, Nancy Forrester.

You are invited to celebrate the opening of Camp Bays Mountain on Sunday, April 29 at 2:00 pm. Join camp and clergy leaders as the Camp Bell is rung, prayer is offered and a ribbon is cut to mark the beginning of camping ministry in this new location. Guided tours of Camp will follow.  Shuttle buses will run from Wellmont Heart Center on Reservoir Road to/from camp beginning at 1:00. Please park in the employee parking lot of the Heart Institute located at 2050 Meadowview Parkway and ride a shuttle bus right to the door of the new dining hall. The last shuttle will leave the parking lot at 1:50, so the celebration service can begin at 2:00.
