Throughout the season of Lent, we will be offering a special Wednesday night study based on the book “Wounds That Heal.”  You are welcome to join at any time. 

There will be a J.O.Y. (Just Older Youth) trip on Friday, April 17, to the Festival of Nations at Dollywood.  If interested in going, please see Sammy Waid (870) 310-1068.

During the season of Lent, our kids will be collecting Change for Children.  So make sure to bring your pocket change to worship so the cans will ring!  This money is given to children’s ministries throughout Holston Conference in the form of grants to local churches.  BCUMC has been the recipient of these grants in the past, so your small change adds up to big ministry!

Our Community Easter Egg Hunt will be on Saturday April 11th from 2:00pm-4:00pm. We will have the telling of the Easter story,  games, snacks, prizes, and of course, an egg hunt!  Mark your calendars now, tell a friend and pray for good weather!

The Bristol cluster of UM Churches are sponsoring a weekly Lenten service and luncheon.  Each Wednesday at noon, you can attend a short worship service and enjoy a free lunch provided by the church. This week, 3/18, the service is at State Street UMC, 300 W. Valley Drive, Bristol, VA.  Message by Rev. David Jackson of Emory UMC.

Holston conference and UMCOR are coordinating a response to the tornado in Middle Tennessee this past week.  We have been asked to provide cleaning kits and hygiene kits for the recovery effort. Please turn into the office by Sunday, March 29.

Our first PotLuck dinner is coming up on March 29 after worship.  Make plans to bring your favorite dish and stay for lunch.

Virginia Avenue UMC, 1127 Virginia Ave., Bristol TN,  invites you to join them for a very special Sunday of worship through music.  They will be hosting the southern gospel quartet, Phillips and Banks, Sunday, March 29 at 4 PM.  A potluck dinner will follow in the Fellowship Hall. A love offering will be collected.

Do you have a young person who will be graduating from high school or college?  Our graduates will be honored on Sunday, May  17.  Please give his/her information to Bobbie Warden by Sunday, May 3.

Our annual Beans and Bluegrass Dinner featuring the Sullivan East Patriot  Pickers.is this Wednesday, March 11 in the Fellowship Hall at 5:30 PM.  The meal is free but donations will be accepted. Please come out and support our young people and get a good dinner.  Please see Lelia Perry if you wish to provide food for this ministry.

We will explore such topics as shame, rejection, deliverance, pain, forgiveness and others.  This study will begin on March 4. 

Mark your calendar for Wednesday, March 11, 5:30 PM for our annual Beans and Bluegrass Dinner featuring the Sullivan East Patriot  Pickers.  The meal is free but donations will be accepted.

Our monthly Children’s ministry (Wesley’s Kids) gathering is coming up tonight.  We’ll be having a St. Paddy’s Day Party!  All of our children (up through 5th grade) are invited.  We’ll make crafts, cook Irish candy, have a meal together, and share the gospel. The fun starts at 5 PM in the Fellowship Hall.

Calling All Men—Andy Hare, Principal of Sullivan East High School will be the guest speaker at the Men’s breakfast this Saturday, 3/7.  Please join us at 8:00 AM in the Fellowship Hall.

The Witness Team will be sponsoring a Pancake Supper on Ash Wednesday, February 26,  before the worship service.  They will be serving pancakes, sausage, and all the fixins starting at 5:30 PM in the Fellowship Hall.  Cost is $6 for adults.  Children under 12 are free.  Proceeds go to evangelism ministries .

Our Ash Wednesday Worship Service will be held at 6:30 PM on Wednesday, February 26.  Plan on attending this service as it is a time for repentance as we enter the Lenten Season.

Thanks again to everyone who donated for our Advent mission challenge.  We gave $1830.32 to The Heifer Project.  Funds were distributed to purchase:  2 heifers, 2 alpacas, 1 goat, 1 pig, 1 trio of rabbits, 4 hives of honeybees, and 5 ducks.  Because of your generosity, lives have been changed!

On Sunday, February 2, there will be a meeting right after worship for all parents and grandparents that are part of our Children’s Ministry.  Some important decisions regarding upcoming programming need to be made and we want your input.  Please plan to be here and to stay for 10-15 minutes after worship in the Sanctuary. If you are interested in joining Bluff City UMC, please mark your desire on the tear-off slip in the bulletin and drop it in the offering plate or talk to Pastor Sean.  We are considering offering a new member class in late January/early February. 

It’s a new year and we’re doing some new things! Our children and youth activities are moving to Sunday nights.  Our children will now be meeting on the first Sunday night of each month from 5-7 PM for an extended time of crafts, music, lessons and even some field trips.  Our youth will now be meeting every Sunday night from 5-7 PM.  Children will start off in the Theatre Room (upstairs in the CLC) and our youth will meet in the Senior High room (upstairs in the CLC).  We hope this new schedule will allow more of our kids to participate in these activities.  If you have any questions, please see Megan Burke (Children’s Coordinator) or April Bridgeman (Youth Coordinator).
